English as a Second Language (ESL)

ESL programs at Old Bridge, New Brunswick and other libraries are on summer hiatus.  Programs will resume in the Fall and we will get you the information as soon as available.

In the meantime, you can contact the other resources listed below:

Matawan Aberdeen Public Library

We will be offering an English Language Conversation group which will be meeting on the third Monday of each month starting on Monday, May 19th @ 7PM.  This is a chance to practice your English.  Everyone is welcome.  The group will work together to practice fluency.  No registration required.

OTHER RESOURCES

  • Literacy NJ Monmouth:  This organization offers private, one-on-one tutoring and group conversation classes for ESL and basic literacy students residing in Monmouth County.  They are offering virtual tutoring (either one-on-one or in a virtual class setting) of English as a Second Language: conversation, reading and writing basics.  Open to adults 18 years and older. To sign up for a tutor or a class, please contact Jhanna Even, Program Director, at 732.702.1895 or at jeven@literacynj.org. You can also go to https://literacynj.org/monmouth-student-application  and fill out the student application.  Once they receive the application, they will get in touch with you to arrange an orientation and then match you with a tutor or put you in a virtual class.

Additional ESL classes may be available through the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development One-Stop Career Centers. These offer services to help individuals develop the skills needed to succeed in a work environment.
