How do I reserve a pass?

Make a reservation ONLINE, in person at the Library at the Circulation Desk or by telephone at 732-583-9100. Once reserved, you will check out a pass to one of the museums with your library card, just like you would a book. Enjoy your visit with family and friends and  then return the pass to the Library Circulation Desk. Please read our Frequently Asked Questions for additional information. Military history enthusiasts will put this at the top of their list of places to visit in New Jersey and places to visit in Philadelphia. However, the tours of the Battleship New Jersey are interactive, so guests of all ages and int erests will equally enjoy themselves as they navigate the decks of the Battleship. You will be going up and down on ladders, stepping through passageways and sometimes maneuvering in tight spaces – just like the officers and the crew of the USS New Jersey did. We are among the best tourism-related things to do in Philadelphia and for good reason – coming aboard a real battleship and experiencing history can leave a lasting impact. Brooklyn Botanic Garden is an urban botanic garden that connects people to the world of plants, fostering delight and curiosity while inspiring an appreciation and sense of stewardship of the environment. In the Garden, in its community, and well beyond, BBG inspires people of all ages through the conservation, display, and enjoyment of plants; with educational programs that emphasize learning by doing; and with research focused on understanding and conserving regional plants and plant communities. Eastern State Penitentiary was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers. Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world’s first true “penitentiary,” a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of prisoners. Its vaulted, sky-lit cells once held many of America’s most notorious lawbreakers, including bank robber “Slick Willie” Sutton and Al Capone. One pass available, the pass admits up to 6 participants. The Monmouth Museum, founded in 1963 as a Museum of Ideas, presents changing exhibitions in art, history, and science to educate and entertain while providing a destination for creative expression and life-long learning to the diverse community it serves. Located inside a historic World War II hangar, the NAS Wildwood Aviation Museum invites you to travel back in time! Explore aviation and military history through hands-on exhibits and fun activities designed for the whole family. Restoring the historic Hangar #1 building, educating the public on Cape May County’s history during World War II, and memorializing the 42 naval aviators who died while training at Naval Air Station Wildwood is our mission. Note: Historic Hanger #1 is not climate controlled, please dress appropriately. Visit this well-appointed museum and enjoy a fully escorted tour. You’ll see original artifacts, listen to 120+-year-old Edison Phonographs, and enter the 1938 Edison Memorial Tower. Learn about the burst of invention that took place at Thomas Edison’s historic Menlo Park, and enjoy a walk through our lovely 36-acre state park, featuring a nature trail and informative kiosks. How do I reserve a pass?

Make a reservation Online, in person at the Library at the Circulation Desk or by telephone at 732-583-9100

Is there a charge to reserve a pass?

There is no charge to reserve the museum pass. If the pass is not returned ON TIME, a fine of $5.00 per day will be charged. If the pass is not returned or if it is stolen, lost, or damaged, the patron will be charged the cost of replacement. (See costs in museum information above.)

Who can reserve a pass?

You must have a Matawan Aberdeen Public Library card in good standing to place a reservation. The pass can only be reserved with an adult card by a patron who is 18 or older. A pass cannot be reserved with a child’s card or by anyone under 18. Up to two passes may be reserved at a time.

How many people are admitted to a museum per pass?

It depends on the pass. See details listed above.

Do the museums have COVID restrictions and/or require reservations?

Please see the individual rules for each museum above.

How long may I keep a museum pass?

The passes go out on a three-day loan. The pass is picked up during regular business hours on day one (date of reservation), used on day two, and returned on day three. If the library is closed due to a holiday, the pass is due the next day the library is open.

Can I cancel my reservations?

Reservations can be cancelled. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours prior to the reservation date by calling or visiting the library, just like you reserved your pass.

Where do I pick up my pass?

The pass must be picked up at the Matawan Aberdeen Public Library at the Circulation Desk.

Do I need my library card to pick up the pass?

Yes, you MUST present the library card that you used when reserving the pass to pick it up.

Where do I return my pass?

The pass must be returned on or before its due date to the Circulation Desk (DO NOT PUT IN THE BOOKDROP).
