Description:
Join Alicia Somma-Hodgskin once monthly for 45 minutes of beginner friendly, relaxing meditation on Zoom. Each class willbe held online so you may join from the comfort of your own home. No previous meditation experience is required! There is a misconception that meditation is the absence of thought, but if we define it simply as paying attention, we can recognize that this is a skill we can cultivate. These monthly classes will touch on various ways to meditate, why meditation can be so challenging, how to make this a sustainable regular practice, how meditation changes the brain and nervous system in a positive way, and more. Whether you’re a first timer and venturing into this as a brand new practice or a seasoned meditator who is looking for community, we’d love to have you.

Table Top Role Playing Game (TTRPG) - Pathfinder Club
MAPL Meeting Room, 165 Main Street, Matawan 07747 NJ
Description:
Stories and legends, heroes and villains, battles of good and evil on a (potentially) cosmic scale… and helping a local villager find their lost pet! Pathfinder is a Table Top Role Playing Game similar to Dungeons and Dragons. Yet, where Dungeons and Dragons lets the dice decide your character traits, Pathfinder allows YOU to assemble your character (more like a Lego set) where you pick and choose the abilities, skills, and stats you want as you level up.
If you have never played before it doesn’t matter, these games will aim to be simple enough for new players to pick it up and play, while being engaging enough for experienced players to be interested. It’s recommend to bring a set of dice (composed of a 20, 12, 10, 8, 6, and 4 sided die), a pencil, and a character sheet (or just the dice and a tablet if you prefer PDFs.)
Our master moderator has extra supplies in case you forget something, or if youare simply curious about the game.
Open to ages 16 and up, no registration necessary. See you all there!

VIRTUAL AUTHOR TALK – Abolition and the Underground Railroad in South Jersey
MAPL Meeting Room, 165 Main Street, Matawan 07747 NJ
Description:
Southern New Jersey was a hotbed of slave fugitives, freedmen and abolitionists in the Civil War era. Activists such as Harriet Tubman, Abigail Goodwin and Benjamin Sheppard assisted runaway slaves along the Underground Railroad in daring flights at night in the forests of the Pine Barrens. Abolitionists flashed lights from their boats in the marshlands of the Delaware Bay to signal to agents on land that fugitive slaves were on board. Please join us in celebration of Juneteenth as author Ellen D. Alford recounts compelling narratives of abolition and the Underground Railroad in South Jersey.
Ellen D. Alford is a native South Jersey resident and local historian who researches and writes about the Underground Railroad, slavery, abolition and Harriet Tubman in South Jersey.
