2026 Summer Reading!

WHAT IS SUMMER READING?

This year’s Summer Reading theme is Unearth a Story!  Summer Reading is an incentive program for patrons of all ages to keep up with reading during the summer. It is specifically focused on keeping kids reading while school is out of session.

Summer Reading starts on June 27th and runs until August 22nd. During Summer Reading MAPL plays host to Summer Parties and Special Summer Programs, details of which will be posted on our calendar with days and times.


Adult Program

who participate in Summer Reading by logging their books (or audiobooks) will have the opportunity to win gift cards to local businesses!

HOW IT WORKS

  • For every book you read, fill out one raffle ticket!
  • Please print as clearly as possible.
  • Summer Reading raffle tickets will be available at the circulation desk. You will need your library card number, so please include all 14 digits listed under the barcode as neatly and accurately as possible.

Weekly Drawings

  • Raffle tickets will be drawn every Monday.
  • The first drawing will take place on JULY 6TH
  • Winners will be notified by phone call.

Prizes

  • There will be 8 weekly prizes and 1 grand prize.
  • Participants may only win one weekly prize but will remain eligible for the grand prize drawing.
  • The more books you read, the more chances you have to win!

Youth Program (teens and children)

Teens and children can sign up for Summer Reading in the library starting June 27th, the date of our kick-off Party.

Patrons in grades 6-12 get one raffle ticket for every book they read this summer. We will have weekly raffles with all sorts of great prizes. All raffle tickets will be added to the Grand Prize Drawing at the end of the summer! Ask us about our Teen “If You Dare” Challenge!

Summer 2026 Teen Events

Teen Lock-in: Prehistoric Snacks- Friday, July 10th, 6:30pm – 9pm

Join us after hours to enjoy some dinosaur-themed snacks. We will start the

evening with pizza and after that, make sweet and savory treats that you can

enjoy or bring home to share. Get ready for Kahoot trivia while we eat! Open to patrons entering grades 6-8. Registration and signed permission slip required.

Arrayscape Gaming- Thursday, July 23rd, 4:30pm – 6pm

Our friends from Arrayscape Gaming will join us in the meeting room for some coding through a Minecraft adventure. Show off your skills as we work together to build and complete challenges, all in a dinosaur theme! Open to patrons

entering grades 6-12. Registration is required.

Let’s Draw: Animals- Monday, July 27th @ 7pm

Let’s draw together. Rick Stromski will be Zooming in to teach us how to draw

animals. This program will take place in our meeting room and all supplies will be provided. Open to patrons entering grades 6-12. Registration is required.

Teen Lock-in: Jurassic Park Movie Night- Friday, August 14th, 6:30pm – 9pm

What better way to celebrate our Summer Reading theme than by watching a classic: Jurassic Park! We will start the evening with trivia and end with some post-movie desserts. Get ready to roar! Open to patrons

entering grades 6-12. Registration and signed permission slip required.

Teens Cooking with Nick: Greek Dips- Wednesday, August 19th @ 7pm

Teens are invited to spend the evening with our favorite chef, Nick! He has prepared some Greek dips for you to try and will teach you how to make them on your own. They make great summer or after-school snacks! Bring your appetite! Open to patrons entering grades 6-12. Registration is required. Allergy information will be available on our website when you register.
