The Matawan-Aberdeen Public Library has many types of books and resources available to children. This page lists a summary of the available children's resources.

Picture Books

The picture book area is a great place to start reading to your child. These books cover a range of topics and have large, interesting pages to keep children interested.

Board Books

Board books are made of sturdy material that is good for little hands. These books are made to be read to infants and toddlers and also for them to use!

Easy Readers

When your child start learning to read, stop by the easy reader aisle. We open each book and designate a level to help you decide which book is right for your beginner reader.

Series Books

Across the aisle from the easy readers there are series books. This is where you will find long series books like Geronimo Stilton, Cam Jansen, or the Rainbow Fairies.

Chapter Books

At our library, Chapter books are located on the back wall, in alphabetical order by the author's last name. These books are usually suitable for 3rd graders and up.

If you have a report for school or you are just curious about the world around you, please peruse our non-fiction section from computers to beavers to books on New Jersey.

Summer Reading Books

We keep a special aisle of summer reading books that are recommended.

Music and Audio Books

In our Audio Visual aisle you can find music CDs, books on CD, books on Playaway, and Playaway Views (self-contained video players).

Spanish Language

Our Spanish Language section is ever growing with new titles. These books are great for native Spanish speakers or for students that want to read in Spanish.

Nuestra sección de idioma español está en constante crecimiento con nuevos títulos. Estos libros son ideales para hablantes nativos de español o para estudiantes que quieran leer en español.

We have magazines, games, and electronic resources to keep you reading all year long.

There are also Chromebooks available for patrons to use in the Children's Department. Please see a Children's Librarian to use one and check out our FAQ for more information on how to use one.
