Upgrade Library Software

We’re upgrading our systems in a big way! In June, we changed our system software, making it easier to search the library catalog, find new materials, and improve your library experience. The new catalog is more intuitive and user friendly, and will make it easier than ever to find what you’re looking for, manage your account, and to discover new things along the way!

Now that the update is completed we are making changes and adjustments to how the new system operates, looks, and feels, both internally and externally. Should you have a problem navigating, searching, or performing activities such as placing holds, please send us a note via email to techq@mapl.org and we’ll be happy to help. If you’re wondering something, other patrons are probably wondering about it, too!

We’ll be posting highlights of our new online catalog’s features here and on our social media pages so be sure to check back often to discover what you’ll be able to do in the new system!

Here’s a sneak peek showing the results of an item search. Note how all of the variations "roll-up" allowing you to see books, large print, audiobooks, and other variants at a glance:

If an item is available at MAPL, it will be listed first, and be clearly labeled as ✅ On shelf at Matawan Aberdeen Public Library followed by the item location. Note that item location information is only shown there if you are logged in, if you are not logged in you can click on our library name immediately below to see all matches with call numbers and collection information. If an item is not available at MAPL, the record will show other libraries in our STELLA consortium where the item may be located.

Will I need a new library card?
- Nope! Your existing library card will work just fine in the new system.

Can I still borrow ebooks and other digital content?
- Any service that requires authentication (where you have to sign in with your library card and PIN), such as eLibraryNJ / Libby or hoopla, will remain available during the entire upgrade.
